Terms of Service

How ordering, custom work, shipping, and returns work here — written in plain language so there are no surprises.

Agreeing to these terms

These terms cover everything you do on theglovesdesigns.com — browsing, sending a contact or inquiry form, and buying something. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't order; email us first and we'll talk it through.

We are The Glove Designs LLC, a one-maker shop at 220 N Yencer St., Baltimore, OH 43105. You must be 18 or older to buy from us.

What you're actually buying

Everything here is handmade, small-batch, or upcycled. That is the appeal and it comes with a few honest facts:

  • No two pieces are truly identical. Grain, color, label wear, and small variations are part of the item, not defects.
  • Liquor-bottle listings are for empty bottles and bottle-based products only. They contain no alcohol, liquor, or other beverage. A cap is included only when the listing says so.
  • Torch fuel and light bulbs are never included. Fuel must be bought separately and is never shipped by us — it is a hazardous material, so pick up standard torch fuel locally.
  • Add-ons such as sand, glass marbles, hardware, and lighting kits ship separately and are meant to be assembled after delivery.
  • Photos show a representative example of the item. The listing text and price are what you are buying.

Custom work, quotes, and deposits

Custom commissions start with what you send us — photos, sketches, sizes, a rough idea. A quote covers the materials, time, and timeline we could see at that moment.

If the job changes after work has started, the quote can change too, and we'll tell you before anything new is spent. Deposits, where used, come off the final price. If we cannot deliver a project safely or as described, we'll refund the unspent portion of what you paid.

Orders, payment, and pricing

Prices are in US dollars and shown on the listing. Sales tax is added where required — Ohio sales tax applies to taxable orders, and we charge it at checkout. Shipping is calculated at checkout based on what's in the order.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number. An order is considered accepted once payment clears and we confirm it.

If we list something at an obvious pricing mistake, or a one-of-a-kind piece sells twice, we'll cancel that line and refund you in full rather than ship the wrong thing or charge you the wrong amount.

Shipping

We ship nationwide across the United States using USPS and UPS. Delivery windows shown at checkout are estimates, not guarantees — carriers have bad weeks too.

Most orders ship as single items per listing. Orders over five items move up to a larger package and a flat large-order shipping rate shown at checkout.

Once a package is handed to the carrier, the carrier is holding it. Shipping damage is handled through the carrier's insurance: email us within five business days of delivery with photos of the item and the packaging, and we'll file the claim. Glass is packed carefully, and we've had very few problems.

Local pickup

Checkout is shipping only right now — every order we take gets shipped, and there is no pickup option in the cart.

If we do arrange an in-person hand-off in Central Ohio, we'll confirm the time and place by email, and the same as-is terms on this page apply the moment the piece changes hands.

All sales final — sold as-is

Every piece is handmade or upcycled, often from vintage and repurposed materials, and is sold "as is" and "with all faults." Natural wear, scratches, label aging, and small variations are part of the piece's character and are not defects.

All sales are final: no returns, exchanges, or refunds. No warranties of any kind are given, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

We check every piece before it goes out, so if something arrives damaged in transit, tell us — that's a shipping claim, not a return, and we'll work it with the carrier.

The same as-is notice appears on every product listing and at checkout. By completing a purchase you confirm you have read it and agree to it.

Safe use

Torch and lamp builds are functional objects, not toys. You are responsible for safe assembly, use, and supervision:

  • Follow the assembly guide that ships with your torch — the guides are here.
  • Use torches outdoors only, on stable ground, away from kids, pets, dry brush, and anything that can catch. Never refuel a hot or lit torch, and never overfill.
  • Lamp builds are for indoor use. Bulbs are sold separately, wiring should be checked before use, and the piece should be unplugged when not in use.
  • Do not modify a piece in a way that changes how it burns or how it is wired.

Logins and accounts

If you have a login with us, keep the password to yourself and you're responsible for what happens under it. Tell us right away at theglovesdesigns@gmail.com if you think it's been compromised and we'll lock it down.

Photos, text, and what you send us

The photos, writing, logos, and design work on this site belong to The Glove Designs or are used with permission. Please don't copy them for your own shop or resell them.

You keep the rights to photos, ideas, and details you send us. You give us permission to use them to quote and build your piece, and — if you say yes — to show the finished work on the site and our social accounts. Send us only material you have the right to share.

Fair use of the site

Please don't try to break, disable, or abuse the store: no automated scraping of the catalog, no interfering with checkout or inventory, no uploading malicious code, and no using the site for anything unlawful. We can block access and cancel orders that put the shop or other customers at risk.

Where our responsibility stops

Our responsibility for a purchase is limited to that purchase. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any order is capped at the amount you actually paid for the item in question. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the shop changes. The date at the top of the page shows when they last changed, and the version posted when you order is the one that applies to that order.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Ohio law, and any dispute would be handled in the state courts of Ohio. That's not a threat — it's just where the workbench is.
